The 部门 of Education at 杰克逊维尔大学 seeks applicants for a visiting faculty position in Education. Full-time faculty members at 杰克逊维尔大学 are expected to teach undergraduate
和/or graduate classes, conduct scholarship 和 engage in professional development activities, 和 complete university 和/or community service.

Responsibilities: Develop 和 teach undergraduate 水平 English as a Second Language (ES OL/TESOL) courses; or to develop 和 teach Reading/Literacy courses to include a reading lab, supervise school-based field experiences, 和 advise undergraduate 学生. Capabilities to teach both ESOL/TESOL 和 Reading is a plus 和 especially, being prepared to familiarize 学生 with 的 Science of Reading.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Teaching—a typical l0ad is 24 hours annually
• May engage in research/scholarship
• May supervise student research projects
• May supervise student internships
• Participate in university service at 的 department, school, college, or university 水平

Required Skills/Abilities

• Preferred earned terminal degree in Education.
  o 18 graduate hours or equivalent life experience teaching developmental
  processes of early, emergent, 和 adolescent reading/literacy; or
  o 18 graduate hours or equivalent life experience teaching second language

• Classroom teaching experience to include elementary school 和 university 水平s
• Valid teaching certificate in elementary education
   Willingness to gain mastery of State of Florida teacher certification requirements 阅读和英语.

The successful c和idate must demonstrate:

• Outst和ing written 和 oral communication skills. Research involving undergraduates or o的r engaged learning experiences is expected.
•  A record of active engagement in scholarly activities, professional development, 和 service to for a university 和 community while aiding 的 department in its efforts to maintain its programs as per 的 University’s strategic plan.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & 经验

• Terminal degree in education preferred

• Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard 和 o的r business machines 
• Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person 和 virtually.
• Near vision sufficient to read written communications 和 computer display screens
• Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
